How it works

We know first-hand that every child can succeed in life through the skills they learn in chess. That's why we developed this curriculum using our knowledge of playing and teaching chess and our passion for raising confident, happy kids.

In-person small groups

Our classes take place in groups of 4-12 students, organized by knowledge and experience. Everyone is welcome! Our program meets the needs of students of all levels. Students will be grouped so that they are challenged but not overwhelmed.

The first lesson is refundable if your child chooses not to continue.

Interactive, structured, and concept-based learning

Our classes consist of two parts:

  1. Introduce a theoretical concept
  2. Explore its practical application

At the start of each class, the coach will introduce a concept and explain why it is important. Next, kids will go over examples that emphasize the concept to understand why it is relevant to chess. Then, coaches will lead kids through practical exercises to gain hands-on experience with the concept and reinforce it.

Why it works

Our approach is designed for the way children learn to play chess naturally: hands-on gameplay, supported by a variety of techniques. Our classes are unique because they are interactive – and they utilize more than one way to help kids grasp ideas in the most efficient way possible.

Example of our techniques in action

Beginner ->
Learning board coordinates ->
Battleship games on a chess board

Advanced ->
Playing under pressure ->
Organized timed mini-tournaments with structured feedback on each game and how to avoid mistakes in the future
